The 4 Essential Quality Metrics We Evaluate
Most basic QR scanners only tell you whether a code was parsed or not. QR Doctor analyzes the underlying physical and optical properties to ensure your code will not fail in real-world conditions:
1. Luminance Contrast (WCAG 4.5:1)
We calculate relative luminance across dark and light modules. Ratios below 4.5:1 will fail in dim restaurant lighting or direct outdoor sunlight.
2. Quiet Zone Boundary (≥4 Modules)
We measure the clear border surrounding all four sides. Without a proper margin, camera sensors cannot isolate the matrix from surrounding text or background artwork.
3. Resolution & Pixel Density
Raster images below 250×250 pixels risk module blur when scaled. We verify whether the file has enough resolution for clear physical reproduction.
4. Color Polarity
Standard QR codes use dark modules on light backgrounds. We flag inverted codes so you can prevent scanning issues on older Android phones or dedicated barcode scanners.
Everything You Need to Know About QR Codes
Clear, honest answers about static encoding, optical scannability, printing, and privacy.
A static QR code encodes your exact destination data (such as a website URL, Wi-Fi network credentials, or vCard contact card) directly into the black and white 2D matrix modules using the ISO/IEC 18004 standard. Because there are no middleman redirect servers involved, the code functions indefinitely as long as your website remains online. There are no trial periods, no renewal dates, and zero monthly fees.
